Qld: Police praise schoolies behaviour despite more arrests

Police on the Gold Coast say they arrested 50 people during schoolies celebrations
last night -- but only 16 of them were school-leavers.

South Eastern Region Assistant Commissioner DAVID MELVILLE says despite the number
of arrests, police have been pleased with the behaviour of school-leavers.

A police spokeswoman says the people arrested last night have been charged with various offences.

They include disorderly and indecent behaviour, obstructing police and using insulting
and offensive behaviour.
