NSW: Accident closes Bells Line of Road

SYDNEY, April 6 AAP - A section of the Bells Line of Road, west of Sydney, will be
closed until about 2pm (AEST) today following a serious truck accident.

About 4.15pm (AEST) yesterday, a prime mover travelling east left the road at Mount
Tomah and mounted a railing.

The truck continued for about 50 metres before rolling down an embankment, stopping
30 metres from the road.

Its cargo of canned goods spilled out before the truck caught fire and was completely destroyed.

The 35-year-old driver, from Bligh Park, escaped the accident with minor injuries and
was released after treatment at Katoomba Hospital.

Bells Line of Road will be closed for about four hours from 10am (AEST) today between
the Botanical Gardens, Mount Tomah and the township of Bell as emergency services recover
the truck, police said.

Motorists are asked to take an alternative route via the Great Western Highway.
