NSW: Motorcycle deaths take NSW road toll to 27

SYDNEY, Dec 30 AAP - Two motorcyclists died on New South Wales roads today, taking
the state's holiday road toll to 27.

A police spokesman said the body of a 20-year-old man was found about 9.30am lying
in a paddock at Tichborne, near Parkes in the state's west, on the Newell Highway.

He said it appeared the man had tried to negotiate a series of S-bends near the Tichborne
railway crossing but had lost control of his motorcycle.

The rider flew into the air, struck a fencepost and is believed to have been killed instantly.

The spokesman said the second motorcycle rider killed was a 55-year-old man from Singleton,
north-west of Newcastle.

He said the rider lost control of his motorbike on a bend at Lake St Clair, north of
Singleton, and skidded a distance before striking a post.

He was airlifted by the Westpac rescue helicopter to John Hunter Hospital at Newcastle
with severe head injuries but was pronounced dead on arrival.
