Qld: Garrett rejects Traveston Dam

Environment Minister PETER GARRETT has again rejected the Traveston Crossing Dam proposal.

He says after careful consideration .. he's concluded that the Traveston Crossing Dam
cannot go ahead without unacceptable impacts on the nationally protected Australian lungfish
.. Mary River turtle and Mary River cod.

Mr GARRETT first rejected the Queensland government's plan to dam the Mary River near
Gympie .. north of Brisbane .. last month.
